Belly Dancing Classes promote a positive body image in a non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere.  This is a great program for women of all ages, shapes and sizes.

Belly Dancing Workouts for Cardio Fitness:

This Belly Dance Class is also considered a workout because with the correct approach, belly dance incorporates both cardiovascular and aerobic exercise. Belly dancing classes offer a unique, and fun, way to get in shape. In order to treat belly dancing as a cardio workout, the belly dancing lessons are designed with movements and routines that have selections of the ideal music and duration, performed with arms and hands up above your heart level – enough to get your heart rate up, put a smile on your face, and a wiggle in your hips.

Belly Dancing Classes for Weight Loss:   

Belly Dancing Classes are group exercise classes where the more you put into it – the more you will get out of it. The more you move, the more calories you will burn. The more you dance, the more exercise you will get and as with any physical activity – the weight loss benefits are endless. Dancing, in general, can burn a similar amount of calories as would riding a bicycle, swimming, or walking. By increasing your frequency of belly dancing workouts and your exertion level, as well increasing your length of participation time in belly dancing classes – the greater your weight loss opportunities will be.

 

Class Description:
Shimmy to be Fit:

All level cardio fitness class. Join us as we shimmy our way into a healthy 2012.  If you are looking for a great no impact cardio program that will get your heart rate up and is easy on your joints then Shimmy to be Fit is for you.  In this class we will cover safe dance posture and movements that will help strengthen every part of our bodies!  No previous dance experience is required. Belly dance is an ancient and beautiful art form  that created by women for women to celebrate the joys of being a woman. This class will not only allow you to work your body and help you in reaching your fitness goals it will help boost your confidence and self-esteem.

Attire:

Be Comfy! No jeans, mini skirts, or street clothes; also no baggy T-shirts, or long skirts.   Exercize/Yoga/Dance unitards, or leggings with a Tee or Tank or sports bra/top that can show lower back position, bare feet, socks or dance shoes. NO STREET SHOES. Also, a scarf or shawl to tie low around your hips is very useful for you to see hip movements in the mirror.  (A limited number of scarves will be made available to borrow.)

Session Length:

Each class is 1 hour in length and includes a warm up and cool down portion.  This is a recurring class that is offered on a monthly basis.

 

 

Class Fees:

Drop in's price is $10.00 a class
Monthly fee, payable the first Wednesday of each month, is $30.00

Family Discounted Rate
If there are 2 or more per family the drop in rate is $10.00 for the first family member and $5.00 for additional family members
Monthly fee of  $30 per month for the first member with addition family members at $20.00
